The KFC(Kentucky Fried Chicken) Foundation is offering a scholarship to anyone who tweets a picture on how committed they are to education and bettering their communities. The scholarship is a sum of $5,000. It was announced on December 15th.
The idea of winning a scholarship off of a tweet is a great way to appeal to teenagers of this new technology age. I think the people at KFC Foundation must be thinking that if they can get more teenagers to be creative instead of writing the plan old essays. Jodi Schafer a director of MBA finical aid and admissions at Iowa's University said "we're hoping that incorporating social media in the process will help bring back some of that creativity".
A good thing that comes from this is that paper is being saved .There would be no wasted paper. "No lengthy essay, no pile of paperwork -- just your thoughts..." promised the contest's website. "To enter, simply log on to Twitter ..." The usage of the internet would clean up a lot of wasteful paper that could stop trees more trees being saved instead of chopped down.
The "tweeting" for a scholarship isn't the only thing that is starting to get more technical, just the other day i was reading a news article about how at Wake Forest University the admission officials are now doing over the internet using "Skype". They say it is easier and cost less than driving or traveling so many miles away to get to a interview that will only take less than a hour.

Taking It To Far With Vending Machines
In Japan the human to vending machine ratio is 24 to 1. There is thought to be more vending machines then people. That Japan has rightly earned the name "Land of The Vending Machines".
Japan has made it known that they mean business with utilizing technology. They have put vending machines mostly every where like : train station, arks, and lunchrooms. According to a recent CNN article "Japan Eats: Thirsty in Japan? Ask a Machine for a Drink" states "...the drinks vending machine is equipped with a face-recognition sensor that gauges information about the customer age and gender".
I think that is awesome; having a machine give me a drink by scanning my face. The article continues to say "Other sensors in the machine measure the outside temperature and help the machine come up with the recommendation depending on the time of the day and the season.". The new technology is amazing everyone. Even though they have way higher advance vending machines; the U.S.A has more vending machine just not as highly developed as japans.
I am just wondering if they can make all these different kinds of things for just a vending machine to do. What kinds of new technology does the future hold. Maybe Flying cars, instant transportation, a robot ,or even a new cures for disease's . Whatever it may be I know that I wont be anything less than surprising.

Muppets Comeback Movie
The Muppets is an old time classic show, who are making a comeback movie to air on the 23rd of November. The Muppets haven't had a new movie in quite a while (maybe say about five years). The new movie includes new actors to give it that new hip look with a quite a few songs.
I think the new Muppets movie will be a successful hit in the movies because the Muppets have a great past with good movies like "Its A Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie" and "Muppets Wizard of Oz". Plus the Muppets had a hit Tv show, featured on many other Tv shows and music videos.
Also the Muppets has a huge fan base that has been supporting them since the beginning. There is no doubt in my mind that they wont support this new movie like all the others. My idea is that the first show will be sold out by "die-hard" fans, that can not get enough of the cute little puppets.
This movie will not only appeal to the old fans, but new younger fans to. It will give them a new opportunity to get back into the glory days. With more publicity and maybe even get the Tv show back
